To give a complete picture of both the cuisine and the food availability of a country, the map with the best places to eat has been created as a combination of the TasteAtlas' World's Best Cuisines report and the World Bank’s report on the Prevalence of moderate or severe food insecurity in the population (sourced from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations).
While the best cuisines report assesses countries based on the appeal and uniqueness of their culinary offerings, the incorporation of the food insecurity report contributes to refining the score by considering a broader perspective.
The map was created using OpenLayers, with extensions provided by ol-ext. This uses imagery from OpenStreetMap, Thunderforest, Bing Maps, and Mapquest. Geocoding is supported by Nominatim via ol3-geocoder. Hosting is provided by x10Hosting.
